Two people were injured in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on Interstate 5 northbound, about two miles north of Canyonville on Sunday night.

An Oregon State Police report said shortly after 6:00 p.m. troopers and emergency medical personnel responded to the accident involving a three-wheeled motorcycle. Further information revealed that a male was operating the motorcycle with a female passenger. Both subjects had sustained significant facial injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

The man reportedly exhibited multiple clues of impairment. A search warrant was obtained for both the hospital and subsequent blood draws. The driver was identified as 45-year-old Casey Otis of Myrtle Creek. Otis was cited for DUII-intoxicants, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person and a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree assault.

Interstate 5 northbound was closed in the area of the crash for a time. The motorcycle was removed by a towing company.
