Roseburg Police jailed a man for prohibited camping following an incident on Wednesday night.

AN RPD report said at 8:00 p.m. the 41-year-old was contacted after the owner of a business complained of a fire and an abundance of smoke under the Deer Creek Bridge in the 200 block of Southeast Jackson Street. The suspect admitted to starting the fire and said it had gotten a bit out of control. He had a camp set up under the bridge, which violated the place portion of the camping ordinance.

The man was cited outdoor burning and prohibited camping. He was also issued his first city exclusion notice.
