January 21, 2205 11:30 a.m.

Much of Douglas County started Tuesday morning without power.

Shortly after 5:00 a.m. tens of thousands of Pacific Power customers had their power go out. That also impacted a significant percentage of the members of Douglas Electric Co-operative as well.

Pacific Power Regional Business Manager Sam Carter said a transmission issue was affecting over 35,000 customers. Carter said the issue involved the 115 KV line at the Dixonville substation.

Power was restored slowly beginning at approximately 8:45 a.m. By late morning, less than 300 customers remained without power.

Many school districts closed for the day while Umpqua Community College opened at 10:00 a.m. Douglas County government offices opened at 10:00 a.m. as well.
