Thrive Umpqua will hold the inaugural Bike the Lights Ride next Monday evening.
It will be a family-friendly cycling event through the Festival of Lights at River Forks Park. A release said the unique holiday experience is made possible through a partnership with Umpqua Velo Club, Bike Walk Roseburg, the Festival of Lights and the Roseburg Rotary Club.
Cyclists of all ages and skill levels are invited to join this 1.4-mile ride through the dazzling light displays. The ride will proceed at a leisurely pace, guided by volunteers stationed along the route. Participants are encouraged to decorate their bicycles with holiday lights and wear festive costumes.
The ride will conclude at Helleck Hall, where riders can warm up with complimentary hot chocolate and cookies.
Helmets and bike lights are required for safety. Limited supplies will be available for those in need of them. A brief safety talk will be provided by Bike Walk Roseburg before the ride begins. The event is car-free. The gates will open to motorized vehicles at 7:00 p.m. Walkers are welcome to walk through the park and enjoy the lights after the cyclists depart. For safety reasons, pets are not allowed during this event.
