Roseburg Police jailed a man for prohibited camping and depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at 10:25 a.m. officers contacted the 47-year-old on the bike path near the 500 block of West Harvard Avenue after a citizen said that a camp was at that location. The man had four prior convictions for prohibited camping and was not in compliance with the “place” portion of the time, place and manner guidelines. He also reportedly had trash outside the front of his tent that went down the embankment towards the South Umpqua River.

The man was taken into custody. He was detained on $7,500 bail. His personal property was gathered up and placed into safe keeping
