Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center has a new name.
A release said effective November 14th, the organization is now known as Saving Grace Humane Society.
While the focus of Saving Grace has always been adopting pets to good homes and providing quality care, over the years its programs and services have expanded far beyond adoptions. Now it is an organization dedicated to creating a more humane community for both pets and people, so the name reflects this mission.
Current programs and offerings include:
*Reunification of lost pets
*Community programs for Douglas County residents. That includes quarterly vaccination and microchip clinics, weekly public spay and neuter appointments, Trap, Neuter, Return for community cats, and pet food banks.
*Education and volunteering opportunities
*Community partnerships and fun events
The release said the full transition to the new name will be gradual over the next couple of months. The previous name may still be seen on brochures and signage until they run out or are phased out.
Saving Grace Executive Director Jennifer Barta said, “We are excited to grow along with our community, continue our partnerships across the state, and support the pets and people of Douglas County”. Barta said, “We could not do the work we do without the great support of our community, our dedicated staff and volunteers”.
Saving Grace is an independent 501-c3 non-profit organization and is not affiliated with any other local or national groups, including those that also use “humane society” in their name.
