36TH ANNIVERSARY BLACKBERRY FESTIVAL FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

The 36th anniversary of the Sutherlin Blackberry Festival is this weekend.

Events take place Friday through Sunday at Central Park and in other locations.

Friday features the Rotary Club’s 25th annual Golf Tournament at the Oak Hills Golf Course, and the Rat Rod Round Up Poker Run. Booths open in the park at 6:00 p.m. with the movie American Graffiti shown at dusk.

Saturday includes a pancake breakfast, swap meet and crafts booths, mud volleyball, BMX bike races, blackberry cooking contest, a karate demonstration, show and shine awards and more. A classic car cruise runs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with live music and dancing from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be a church service in the park at 9:00 a.m., swap meet and craft booths, motorcycle show, chili cookoff, pet pie eating contest, mud races, a diaper derby, karaoke and more.

Tickets are on sale for a 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle, which will be raffled off Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
