An Azalea man was jailed following a reported assault on Friday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 9:00 p.m. a victim called 911 to say that she had been in a physical disturbance with a man. She claimed that 70-year-old Mark Hanson had grabbed her by the arms and tried pulling her out of a residence in the 100 block of Woodpath Lane. When he couldn’t do that, Hanson allegedly punched the victim in the face three times. The victim had a large welt on her face supporting her claims.
The victim said she had dialed 911 and while on the phone, the man took her phone and threw it. The report said Hanson was extremely intoxicated and denied that anything physical had happened. He was charged with fourth-degree assault, harassment and interfering with making a report. Hanson was detained without bail.
