DIAMOND COMPLEX AT 3,800 ACRES WITH 20 FIRES

The Diamond Complex burning in the Umpqua National Forest is comprised of 20 fires totaling 3,811 acres, as of mid-day Wednesday.

A UNF update said while some fires are now out, 8 new fires totaling an estimated 62 acres have been identified and added to the complex, since mid-day on Tuesday.

The complex remains 3 percent contained. 278 people are assigned to the complex.

The largest fires are:

*Pine Bench: 1,472 acres and zero percent contained. It is north of Highway 138 near Dry Creek.

*Trail: 827 acres and 5 percent contained. It is east of Highway 138 on the slope of Mt. Thielsen.

*Lemolo: 518 acres and zero percent contained. It is north of Lemolo Lake on Bunker Hill.

*Potter: 372 acres and zero percent contained. It is north of Highway 138, about 2 miles southeast of Potter Mountain.

*Watson: 144 acres and zero percent contained. It is north of Highway 138 on Watson Ridge.

All other fires in the complex range from 5 acres to 95 acres.

Active suppression work continues with the Lemolo, Trail, Pig Iron and Pine Bench fires as priorities. Work continues to get water delivery and fire line established on the Watson Fire.
