Roseburg Police jailed a man after his vehicle crashed into a building on Wednesday night.
An RPD report said at 11:15 p.m. officers responded after a caller said there was a single vehicle wreck in the 2400 block of West Harvard Avenue. Officers found a pickup on its side and noticed significant damage to the side of the building, occupied by Shazaam’s. The business owner later estimated that over $50,000 in damage was done to the building. The vehicle was unoccupied. Witnesses said a male driver had run away from the scene after driving recklessly and crashing into the building.
Officers located the driver, a 20-year-old Winston man, a short distance from the accident and took him into custody without incident. He admitted to driving recklessly, leading up to the crash. He was charged with reckless driving, and a misdemeanor count of failure to perform the duties of a driver-property damage. The man was detained on $12,500 bail.
