TWO PEOPLE CITED BY ROSEBURG POLICE FOR PROHIBITED CAMPING

Two people were cited by Roseburg Police for prohibited camping on Monday.

An RPD report said at 2:10 p.m. the 34-year-old woman and 42-year-old man were contacted at their camp, which was set up under the cover where the carved eagle statue sits near the intersection of Northeast Stephens Street and Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.

The camp was set up after 8:00 a.m. which is in violation of the “time” portion of the city ordinance. It covered an area larger than the allotted 10 feet by 10 feet, and had tarps attached to the eagle, which is in violation of the “manner” portion of the ordinance. The camp was set up about 60 feet from the edge of Deer Creek, which is in violation of the “place” portion of the ordinance.

Both were cited and released on the scene and were instructed to move their camp.
