On Wednesday, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team culminated a months-long investigation into illegal drug dealing in the Yoncalla area with the execution of search warrants at two locations which resulted in one arrest.
DINT Commander Lieutenant Rick McArthur said in recent months, through various investigative techniques, detectives obtained evidence of multiple suspected large scale drug deals occurring at a residence in the 600 block of Main Street in Yoncalla. McArthur said during that time, detectives seized approximately two pounds of suspected methamphetamine that could be tied directly to the suspect, 54-year-old Donald Wayne Baughman, who lives in Yoncalla.
Wednesday at approximately 3:45 p.m. DINT, with the assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, executed warrants at two of Baughman’s residences – one in the 600 block of Main Street in Yoncalla and the other in the 1200 block of North First Street in Drain. Baughman was detained at the Drain residence. A search there revealed only a small amount of suspected meth – approximately 10 grams.
McArthur said during a search of the Yoncalla residence detectives located almost a pound of suspected meth hidden inside, along with numerous other items seized as evidence of meth dealing.
The residence is located close to Yoncalla Elementary School. McArthur said there are specific statues with enhanced penalties for manufacturing and/or dealing controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school and they apply to this case.
Baughman was ultimately transported to the Douglas County Jail on 3 counts each of unlawful possession, delivery, and manufacture of meth and 3 counts of unlawful manufacture and delivery of meth within 1,000 feet of a school.
Baughman is detained on $400,000 bail
