UMPQUA VALLEY TO SEE RAPID RAMP UP IN TEMPERATURES

The Umpqua Valley will see a rapid ramp up in high temperatures later this week, with near record high conditions possible by Saturday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that high pressure will begin increasing Wednesday and is expected to peak on Friday or Saturday. The region is forecast to remain dry for the foreseeable future.

Roseburg will see highs around 60 degrees Tuesday, increasing to the mid to upper 60s Wednesday. By Thursday, the maximum temperature will be in the low 80s. Friday and Saturday are expected to be in the upper 80s with the mercury Saturday near the record high for the date of 91 degrees, set in 1937. By Sunday, highs will be in the low 80s, before dropping to the mid to upper 70s by Monday. Forecasters said the average high for this point in May is in the low 70s.
