Sutherlin Police charged a woman with assaulting a public safety officer on Wednesday night.

An SPD report said at about 8:00 p.m. a caller said that 42-year-old Shannon McKeehan -was causing a disturbance in the 1300 block of East First Avenue. Officers eventually located McKeehan walking in the 400 block of East Central Avenue and attempted to arrest her.

McKeehan alleged punched an officer in the face, causing injury. Officers were able to take the woman into custody.

She was also charged with resisting arrest, first-degree criminal trespass, harassment and third-degree criminal mischief. McKeehan was detained without bail.
