On Thursday, U.S. Representatives Val Hoyle and Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin, introduced the Airport Ramp Worker Safety Act.

A release said the legislation would help develop proper training and safety standards to protect airport ground crew workers while on the job.

Hoyle said, “Every worker deserves to be safe on the job. But today, airport ground crew workers don’t have unform safety training requirements which has led to some workers getting hurt or even killed”. Hoyle said, “This is unacceptable. I’m proud to introduce this bi-partisan, pro-worker bill to help make sure these workers feel safe and supported at work”.

The legislation is supported by the Communication Workers for America.
