A Yoncalla man was arrested following a burglary investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.
A DCSO report said a deputy had been the investigating the incident at a storage unit facility in the 2500 block of Eagle Valley Road in Yoncalla since January 18th. The deputy had spoken with multiple witnesses, victims and suspects in the case. During one conversation, 58-year old Dennis Ellis allegedly admitted to entering a storage unit that had been locked out since August. Ellis reportedly knew that there was a remaining balance of money due on the unit before anyone could obtain the property. That storage unit had not been sold or assigned to Ellis. The unit was locked out with the storage unit lock and key, and a red sign had been placed on the doors, preventing anyone was entering it.
On Friday at 3:00 p.m. the deputy traveled to Ellis’s location in the 100 block of Williams Road in Yoncalla. Ellis was charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree counts of trespass and theft. He was detained without bail and was released on Sunday.
