ROSEBURG CITY COUNCIL TO HAVE FIRST MEETING OF 2024

The Roseburg City Council will have its first meeting of 2024 on Monday night.

Commission chair appointments and commission appointments will be made.

The council president will be elected for the new year.

Roseburg Public Library Director Kris Wiley will have a special presentation, reviewing the library, which celebrated its fifth anniversary on Saturday.

Councilors will consider a resolution authorizing and supporting an application for a Douglas County Pier Grant to support backup power at the Fulton Street shops. Design and construction costs are estimated to be $545,000.

The council will vote on a staff recommendation to cancel a purchase agreement for property on Northeast Winchester Avenue. The Homeless Commission considered the site for an urban campground at a December meeting. After hearing public comment against the proposal, they recommended removing the site from consideration.
