Roseburg Police jailed a man following an alleged strangulation incident on Christmas afternoon.

An RPD report said on Monday shortly after 12:00 p.m. officers contacted a victim in the 3900 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. During the investigation, officers learned that a 40-year old male suspect allegedly choked the victim and covered her mouth, preventing her from being able to breathe. The man was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with a felony count of strangulation and for a parole violation. The man was detained on $10,000 bail.
