UC VEG LIFESTYLE AND NUTRITION COURSE STARTING SOON

December 26, 2023 9:30 a.m.

The Umpqua Community Veg. Education Group will begin its next round of the Lifestyle & Nutrition Course on Thursday January 4th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Registrants can meet together in-person at the new Aviva Health classroom and teaching kitchen next to Costco, or in the satellite location in Elkton. The virtual option will continue to provide access to those living outside the local area, or with transportation barriers or mobility impairments. Since the launch of the virtual option, participants have tuned in from southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, Canada, across the U.S., regionally and from around Douglas County.

Started in 2015, the 13-week evidence based, disease prevention and reversal series has served 3,576 participants.

Participants’ health improvements are verifiable through pre and post blood draws generously provided at the start and end of class by CHI Mercy Medical Center and self-attestation surveys. Over the last five years, profound results have become the norm, such as significant weight loss, a decrease in dosage or even discontinuation of certain medications, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, improved mood and greater energy and vibrancy.

Data shows that 80 percent of participants lose weight throughout the course, with an average weight loss of 5.8 pounds per participant. 96 percent of participants lose inches around the abdominal circumference, total cholesterol drops by an average of 7.4 ponts and 27 percent of participants improve their A 1c marker for diabetes by greater than .4 percent.

Over 80 doctors, medical providers and partners around Douglas County are referring their patients to the course.
