A Coos Bay couple was arrested on weapons and child endangerment charges on Friday.
A Coos County Sheriff’s Office release said at 9:00 a.m. a deputy was conducting an investigation on a property on West Beaverhill Road near Hemlock Lane. During the investigation, the deputy developed information that there was a minor child on the property the was allegedly being subject to neglect and criminal mistreatment. As a result of that investigation, a search warrant for the property was secured.
At 2:00 p.m. deputies along with staff from the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division and Bay Cities Ambulance responded to the property to serve the search warrant.
The release said during the search, several items were allegedly located, including multiple explosive devices, narcotics, firearms, body armor, and ammunition. A young child at the residence was also found and removed from the home by DHS.
37-year old Ryan Woolman and 26-year old Megan Wollman were arrested on several charges. Both were charged with possession of a destructive device, first-degree criminal mistreatment and endangering the welfare of a child. Ryan Woolman was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of body armor. Both remain in custody in the Coos County Jail.
The Oregon State Police bomb squad was contacted about the explosive devices. They responded to the property and disposed of the items.
