Roseburg Police jailed a man following alleged menacing at a camp on Monday afternoon.

An RPD report said the 43-year old had his camp set up along the riverbank in Fir Grove Park in the 500 block of Northwest Stewart Park Drive. It was clearly visible from Stewart Park. A victim was in the camp, but the man had just met her the day before and now wanted her to leave. A witness stated that the suspect had struck the victim and drug her around the camp site.

When officers arrived shortly before 2:30 p.m. the man allegedly had a large piece of wood in his hand raised over the victim as she laid on her back under him. The man dropped the wood and was detained without incident. The suspect denied striking the victim. The victim was uncooperative with officers.

The man was charged with menacing and second-degree disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $15,000.
