WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MOUNTAIN AREAS

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 11:00 a.m. Monday through 11:00 p.m. Monday for mountain areas in southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected with winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour.

The Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades, the Klamath Basin, northern and eastern Klamath County and western Lake County. This includes Diamond Lake and the Crater Lake area. It applies to highways 140, 97, 62, 138 and 230.

Drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
