Sutherlin Police jailed a man for an alleged theft incident on Thursday.

An SPD report said just before 6:50 a.m. 23-year old Christian Sherman and an unknown female allegedly stole a chop saw and a dispenser from the back of a pickup that was parked at a business in the 1300 block of West Central Avenue. The combined value of the items was over $1,000.

The man was detained but would not identify who the woman was. The items were recovered except for a 60-volt battery. Sherman was charged with first-degree theft, conspiracy to commit a Class C Felony, and for unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle. He was detained on $5,000 bail and was released on Friday.
