Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed an Idleyld Park man for a prior disturbance with a firearm which took place Tuesday night.

A DCSO report said deputies responded to an unknown disturbance possibly involving a firearm in the 100 block of Homestead Court in Idleyld Park. The victim claimed that 46-year old Robert Collins had pointed a gun at her and himself, then fired a shot somewhere inside the trailer. The victim said a neighbor came and got her and a gun from an RV.

Deputies spent approximately an hour trying to get Collins to come out of the trailer without success. It was confirmed that none of the other trailers around his were hit by the alleged shot fired. Deputies backed out of the situation and took the victim to a safe location.

On Wednesday, the suspect was taken into custody.

Collins was charged with domestic menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and for pointing a firearm at another. After arraignment, bail was set at $10,000.
