The Umpqua Valley woke up to snow on Tuesday.
While some areas were getting snow just after midnight, other locations didn’t see any until after 4:00 a.m. Listeners of News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN reported a wide variety of snow accumulations. Three to four inches of snow was reported in the Myrtle Creek area, with up to seven inches reported in parts of Melrose. Some other locations had lesser amounts. Check a thread on the KQEN Facebook page to see dozens of weather pictures captured early Tuesday.
Seven school districts cancelled classes for the day, while a similar number of them delayed classes for two-hours. Some medical providers pushed back the start of their operations to 10:00 a.m.
The Umpqua Valley switches to a pattern of dry air for the rest of the week with cooler overnight temperatures and afternoon highs in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees.
