WIND ADVISORY/HIGH WIND WARNING THROUGH 4:00 P.M. THURSDAY

A Wind Advisory remains in effect for much of southern Oregon with a High Wind Warning in place for mountain areas through 4:00 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said south winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 65 miles per hour are expected at lower elevations. Mountain areas may see gusts up to 75 miles per hour.

The Advisory applies to central Douglas County and its eastern foothills along with Josephine County and eastern Curry County. It includes highways 199, 42, 138, 38, 62 and Interstate 5, and the communities of Roseburg, Sutherlin, Elkton, Steamboat, Grants Pass and Cave Junction.

The Warning is for the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. It includes highways 66, 140, 62, 230, 138 and Crater Lake.

Forecasters said gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down with power outages expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches.
