Stormy conditions have led to power outages in parts of the service territory covered by Douglas Electric Cooperative.

As of 6:00 a.m. nearly 1,700 meters are without power. Many are in the northwest and coastal areas of their system. This includes portions of Tenmile Lake, Loon Lake, Ash Valley, Scottsburg, and Lower Smith River. The utility has lost transmission to its Umpqua substation which affects Tyee, Hubbard Creek, Lower Cleveland Rapids, Melqua and Umpqua. They have also lost the transmission line to the Scottsburg substation which affects members along Highway 38 from Paradise Creek to the Loon Lake junction. There are a handful of outages in the Camas Valley area. Some outages remain in Upper Smith River and Melrose.

Assistant General Manager Phil Bigler said crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power, but weather conditions have not been favorable.
