AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY FOR WEDNESDAY THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY

December 13, 2022 1:40 p.m.

An Air Stagnation Advisory remains in effect from 4:00 a.m. Wednesday through 4:00 a.m. Saturday for most of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said stagnant air is expected, which may lead to deteriorating air quality.

The Advisory area includes southwestern and south-central parts of the state and extends from the coast to the Idaho border, with the exception of some mountain areas near and north of Crater Lake.

Air stagnation is likely to result in diminishing air quality with time, especially in and near areas with significant sources of air pollution. This is likely to cause health issues for residents with respiratory problems if precautions are not taken. Those people should follow their physician’s advice.

Forecasters said a weak weather system is forecast to arrive over the weekend. That may allow for some minor mixing and a reduction of air stagnation conditions.
