COUNTIES TO RECEIVE $3.1 MILLION IN FEDERAL AID

Senator Ron Wyden has announced that all 36 Oregon counties will receive a combined $113.1 million in federal assistance over the next two years through a program he fought to include in the first COVID relief plan.

A release said the federal fund distribution comes from the $1.5 billion over the next two years in the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund. Wyden said he and Colorado Representative Joe Neguse teamed up to get it included in the American Rescue Plan for counties participating in certain federal revenue sharing programs related to federal land within their respective jurisdictions.

The fund also provides $500 million over the next two years for Tribes in Oregon and nationwide. Tribes have until the end of October 2022 to submit applications for their allocations.

Klamath and Malheur counties are getting the largest amount at $6 million each for both of the next two years. Douglas County will receive just over $5.3 million per year for the next two fiscal years.
