Detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team uncovered rainbow fentanyl on Thursday.

Sergeant Nick Hansen said at about 4:00 a.m. DINT conducted an operation in the 700 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard in Roseburg. Hansen said detectives contacted an individual in the parking lot of a local business.

Detectives deployed canine Trapper to the suspect’s vehicle who alerted to the presence of controlled substances. During a search of the vehicle, 15 ounces of the drug and 2 ounces of methamphetamine were located. Hansen said it was destined to be sold in Douglas County.

Hansen said multicolored fentanyl is a trend DINT and other drug teams in the state are seeing in the region. The DINT release said this fentanyl is referred to as “rainbow fetty”. The release said fentanyl is a highly powerful synthetic opioid which has resulted in a significant increase in overdose cases in the community.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time. DINT was assisted by the Roseburg Police Department.
