RED FLAG WARNINGS FOR SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES

September 7, 2022 4:20 a.m.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the southern Oregon Cascades.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said isolated to scattered dry thunderstorms along with strong, gusty winds are expected.

A trough is forecast to move through the region bringing additional gusty winds and dry humidity, especially over the east side and into northeastern California. While the thunderstorms will bring very little, if any rain, they could produce gusty shifting winds up to 45 miles per hour.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect until Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. for the mountain areas and also for the eastern Douglas County foothills. High temperatures in the 90s in most mountain areas are expected. Valley locations in Grants Pass and Medford could hit 100 degrees or more.
