MARTIN CREEK FIRE KNOCKED DOWN, MOP UP UNDERWAY

Firefighters with the Douglas Forest Protective Association knocked down the Martin Creek Fire early Thursday morning.

Public Information Officer Rachael Pope said the fire was reported around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday night, about 7 miles north of Glendale near Martin Creek Road. Pope said forward spread was eliminated and 15 percent of mop up was complete by mid-morning Thursday. Crews will continue working until the fire is fully contained. The fire is currently estimated to be 8 acres.

Pope said the fire is human caused and is currently under investigation. More details are expected in a future report.
