The Douglas County Veterans Day parade planning committee needs volunteers.

Around October 1st people are needed to distribute this year’s poster around the community.  On parade day, volunteers are needed to:

*Guide entrants to specific line up areas

*Man individual barricades to make sure no vehicles are allowed on the parade route

*Help line up and release entrants into the parade line

*Walk along as entrants move down the street

Someone is also needed who can learn and take over the judging area in future years. This includes prior planning and organizing for the day of the parade.

The next planning meeting will be September 14th at 3:30 p.m. It will be held in the Veterans Service Office at the Douglas County Courthouse. Those with questions should call 503-504-8198. The planning committee works under the non-profit Douglas County Veterans Forum.
