August 28, 2022 2:40 p.m. (Updated 8/29 10:50 a.m.)

A Days Creek man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident Friday night.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday morning at 4:15 a.m. 911 dispatchers received a report of the wreck in the 7000 block of Days Creek Cutoff Road. O’Dell said it was reported that the occupant was trapped, approximately 150 feet down an embankment.

Deputies, along with fire and emergency medical personnel were sent to the scene. When deputies arrived, they learned that the driver, 57-year old Steven Kremer, had crashed his vehicle the previous evening at about 9:00 p.m. O’Dell said Kremer’s pickup left the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled multiple times down the embankment. A neighbor heard the victim yelling for help the next morning, and made the 911 call.

Fire and EMS personnel had to extricate Kremer from the vehicle in order to get him to the roadway and a waiting ambulance. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Kremer was later transferred to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield where he is listed in fair condition as of last check, according to a hospital spokesperson.

O’Dell said DCSO is continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone with information which may aid investigators is asked to call 440-4471.

Several other agencies assisted DCSO at the accident scene.
