Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association are actively engaged on 22 total fires that make up the Dutchman Complex.
Public Information Officer Rachael Pope said firefighters responded to approximately 55 reports of fires across the county in a 19-hour period
Pope said the largest fire on the district is the Bear Mountain Fire, in the Callahans, west of Roseburg. That fire is currently estimated to be just under 5 acres. Firefighters are on the scene and actively engaged on this incident. Pope said the majority of all the fires remain small and are in mop up phases.

All of DFPA’s district firefighters, along with dispatch and detection specialists, are on duty and additional contract resources have been brought in as well. Pope said that includes three 20 person crews, 6 engines, 4 tenders, and 2 sets of timber fallers. An additional Type 1 and two Type 2 helicopters have been ordered to bolster air resources.
Pope said the first reconnaissance flight of the day will continue to begin at daylight to monitor current incidents, provide information from the air and scout out any new reports of fire.
Additional holdover fires and new starts are expected in the coming days.
Pope said at this time, no homes are threatened and no evacuation orders are in place. Go to www.dfpa.net for updates.
