A Myrtle Creek man was jailed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office following alleged criminal mischief early Tuesday.

Information released Thursday by DCSO said at about 4:50 a.m. a deputy was dispatched to a business complex in the 200 block of South Pacific Highway in Myrtle Creek.

The report said the deputy found a shattered front door and size twelve to thirteen shoe prints on the window. A cup with blood was located in the building. While there the deputy spotted an active trespass situation happening nearby.

39-year old Dwight Simpson was contacted and made unusual statements. A witness said they saw the man beating on objects at a neighbor’s home and confronted him. The witness claimed that Simpson threw an unknown object through their window, and provided a video.

A Myrtle Creek Police officer and the deputy checked Simpson’s shoe treads and determined that the treads matched the prints left on the window in the business complex.

Simpson was charged with first and second-degree counts of criminal mischief, two counts of third-degree theft, four counts of second-degree criminal trespass, and for third-degree criminal mischief. Simpson was released on Wednesday.
