Sutherlin Police jailed a man for online sex crime charges on Monday.

Captain Kurt Sorenson said it is suspected that 52-year old Gary Silva of Cottage Grove, engaged in an online conversation with a juvenile using social media. Sorenson said it is suspected that Silva traveled to Sutherlin with the intent to engage in a sexual relationship with the juvenile. He was detained and charged with first and second-degree counts of online sexual corruption of a child and for luring a minor. Silva was held without bail.
