DISTRICT IDENTIFIES ACCIDENT VICTIM, MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP STARTED

Officials with the Elkton School District have identified the victim in a single-vehicle accident Monday, as a student.

Superintendent Andy Boe released a statement on the district website that said, “It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Rachael Moss”. Boe said, “Rachael was a member of the EHS class of 2023. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones as they deal with this loss”.

Boe said counseling services are available Wednesday at the Elkton High School Library. The Rachael Ellen Moss Memorial Scholarship fund has been established at Elkton High School and donations are being accepted in her memory.

The Oakland teen died in a crash on Highway 138W, seven miles west of Sutherlin, when her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and crashed into a tree at about 2:30 p.m. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
