A cow was hit by a semi-truck after a mudslide took down a section of fence Tuesday night.

An Oregon State Police report said just before 8:20 p.m. a report of cows in the roadway was called in, in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Tri-City exit. A mudslide from what was later learned to be an irrigation leak had taken down the woven wire on the bottom portion of the fence. The stands above the woven wire were tangled together. Three head of cattle were on the outside of the fence near the roadway. Two were near the damaged portion of the fence and returned through the hole. The third was south of the damaged portion of fence and was struck by the vehicle.

Information was exchanged between the driver and the property owner. The owners fixed the fence and planned to recover the cow.
