A transient was jailed for an alleged burglary by Sutherlin Police on Monday.

An SPD report said a business in Sutherlin was burglarized in the early morning hours of July 24th, with several items taken. After an investigation, 46-year old Daniel Sherman was determined to be the suspect. On Monday at about 2:30 p.m. officers attempted to contact the suspect at the home of a relative. Sherman allegedly ran from officers and attempted to hide on the roof of a home. He was ultimately taken into custody.

The report said a search warrant on Sherman’s car allegedly revealed the stolen property and evidence from the original burglary. He was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of first-degree theft. Sherman was detained without bail.
