Increased emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits continue in August for Oregonians.

A release from the Oregon Department of Human Services said approximately 430,000 SNAP households will get around $69 million in extra food benefits in addition to their regular SNAP benefits. These are a temporary support that the state can provide because of the federal COVID-19 emergency.

Current SNAP households will receive emergency allotments on August 11th. Emergency allotments will be issued August 31st or September 2nd for households who did not receive benefits in the first monthly issuance.

ODHS said SNAP recipients do not have to take any action to receive these supplemental benefits as they will be issued directly on their EBT cards.
