The Roseburg Senior Center on Southeast Stephens Street remains open as a cooling center through at least Friday.

The facility will be open Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., according to Ruth Smith, president of the organization’s board of directors.

Lunch and dinner will be served and showers will be available outside the building.

A release said the center will follow social distancing guidelines, with canopies set up outside for anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, as symptomatic people will not be allowed inside the building. Volunteers will be outside as well.

Inside, the cooling center has a 45-person capacity. That includes volunteers, leaving room for around 40 guests. Masks are not required but they may available. Guests will be able to bring pets inside.

County health officials are providing air scrubbers to clean the indoor air.

The center can use donations of ice, water, soft snacks and easy to chew fresh fruit. Also needed are feminine hygiene products, razors, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper, sunscreen and summer clothing.
