A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. for central Douglas County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures of 90 to 100 degrees are expected. Overnight lows will be warmer than normal, mainly from 60 degrees to 65 degrees. Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur.

Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluid, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. ‘

Those who work or spend time outside should take extra precautions. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in place for the eastern Douglas County foothills and south-central Oregon Cascades, along with most of the Rogue Valley.
