The Constitution Party of Oregon has announced that Donice Smith of Roseburg is its candidate for Governor of Oregon.

A release said that Smith was chosen June 1st in an online nominating convention conducted according to party bylaws under the direction of Chairman Jack Brown.

Smith said, “I will be the choice in this year’s election for the many citizens who want a change of direction in our state. I am the candidate who stands for Life, Liberty and Limits for what has frankly been a runaway state government. I will not hesitate to use the Governor’s bully pulpit to point the way toward a renewal of individual freedom and responsibility”.

A statement on the party’s website said Smith attained the rank of Master Sergeant with over thirty-five years in the military, ten of those on active duty. The statement said her experience includes years of training as an instructor, combat medic, corpsman, EMT and nurse. She has also been a teacher, published journalist and talk show host, according to the site.
