FIRE BURNS NEARLY ONE-THIRD OF AN ACRE NORTHWEST OF ROSEBURG

July 12, 2022 4:00 a.m.

Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Douglas County Fire District No.2 dealt with a fire northwest of Roseburg that burned nearly one-third of an acre on Monday.

Public Information Officer Rachael Pope of DFPA said firefighters responded to the grass fire on Lark Lane just after 3:00 p.m. District No. 2 crews had the fire around 80 percent extinguished by the time DFPA staff arrived. DFPA stayed on the scene to help complete the mop-up process. The cause of the fire was found to be an escaped debris pile.

Pope said this fire serves as an important fire that debris burning is currently restricted under the Public Use Restrictions. Pope said with the lack of substantial rain and increasing high temperatures, fuels are dry and ready to burn.
