A woman was jailed following an alleged stabbing on Monday.

Sutherlin Police Chief Troy Mills said the incident occurred at a home in the 1200 block of Blossom Court just before 1:00 p.m. Mills said after a call to Douglas County Dispatch reporting the crime, officers responded and found that 38-year old Melissa Valle had gone to the home to confront 38-year old Jesse Fisher about the way he had been treating one of her friends.

Mills said Valle entered the residence through a side door and began confronting the victim. During the incident, Valle stabbed Fisher in the abdomen with a fixed blade knife, causing significant injury. Sutherlin officers took Valle into custody. She was charged with second-degree assault and for unlawful use of a weapon. Bail was set at $300,000.

Due to Fisher’s injury, he was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center, via ambulance. He is listed in good condition at last check, according to a hospital spokesperson. Mills said this is an ongoing investigation and there is no threat to the public.
