A transient was charged with second-degree assault by Sutherlin Police on Friday.

An SPD report said at about 11:30 p.m. 20-year old Lance Ketchem allegedly charged at a victim with a baseball bat in the 700 block of Hastings Avenue. The victim put his hands up to protect himself and was struck in the hand by the bat, apparently breaking bones in his hand.

Ketchem was located and taken to the Douglas County Jail. Bail was set at $250,000.
