Oregon is gearing up to host the world’s largest and most prestigious track and field event next month, which will bring thousands of visitors from over 200 nations to the state.

A release from the office of Governor Kate Brown said The World Athletics Championships – also known as Oregon 22 – will be held at the newly reimagined Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, marking the first time ever that the event will take place in the United States.

Brown said, “In just a few weeks, Oregon will welcome Team USA and hundreds of world-renowned athletes and coaches to the World Athletics Championships Oregon22”. Brown said “This is an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Oregon. We can’t wait to welcome the world and showcase what makes Oregon so special and our treasured history with this sport”.

The release said to celebrate the event, a public awareness campaign is launching across the state to mark the occasion. Oregonians are invited to join the campaign, “Hello, World.
