Crews from the Umpqua National Forest have been out in full-force preparing campgrounds and trails for the busy Memorial Day weekend, removing danger trees and setting up recreation sites.

Chris Bentley of the UNF said many campgrounds are open just in time for the weekend. Bentley said that includes East Lemolo, Bunker Hill, Inlet and Poole Creek. Those not yet open include: All Diamond Lake campgrounds, Hemlock Campground, Broken Arrow and Theilsen View.

Campgrounds offering first come-first serve campsites are: Little River, Steamboat Falls, Wolf Creek, Coolwater, White Creek and Lake in the Woods.

Bentley said most reservation-based campgrounds on the Tiller Ranger District opened on Friday. Threehorn and Devil’s Flat campgrounds are the only campgrounds there not yet accepting campgrounds reservations.
