CANBY MAN DIES IN DIAMOND LAKE AREA CRASH

A Canby man died in a single vehicle crash in the Diamond Lake area Wednesday night.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 8:35 p.m. troopers and emergency personnel responded to the wreck on Highway 138E near milepost 78.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound sedan operated by 67-year old Howard Berry of Milwaukie was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and struck a power pole. Speed and alcohol use are being investigated as contributing factors to the accident.

OSP said a passenger, 37-year old Koelby Edlund, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Berry and two other passengers, 67-year old Richard Edlund of Milwaukie and 66-year old John Ruppert of Tigard, were all transported by air ambulance with injuries.

Highway 138E was closed for approximately thirty minutes.

OSP was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies.
